Financial advisor Devin Carroll has 425k subscribers on YouTube. Here’s what I see as some of the key factors behind his marketing success and rise to fame as a financial advisor YouTube rockstar.

Financial advisor YouTube tips

These YouTube tips for financial advisors may be applied to social media as well as other methods of marketing.

It’s not hard to see why Devin is successful just by looking at one video. Check out this video on Tax Repeal, for example:

  • Dressed professionally and looks like a financial advisor.
  • In the first few seconds of the video, he gets right into it (“Hey everyone, a few days ago there was a proposal”), instead of explaining who he is, what his firm does, etc. He’s focused on the needs of the viewer and that keeps people from tuning out right away.
  • No gimmicks or slick marketing tactics, very straightforward.
  • Deep knowledge base. See 2:03; he knows the history of Social Security like the back of his hand. It’s this level of depth that separates him from others who just know the minimum amount and don’t really have any insights to offer past the basics.

It’s hard to prove your value in a competitive industry when you don’t know more than the next advisor. It’s not just new advisors that suffer this.

However it is not hard for prospects to see when somebody has taken the time to gain an encyclopedic knowledge of something. This will make you rare and you can see this has rewarded Devin.

Today, ask yourself what your strongest area of knowledge is, and then go to Google and see what other advisors are saying. If you aren’t offering more than them, it may be a good idea to work on that.

Are you ready to go kick some butt!

Alright that’s all for now. I hope you enjoyed these financial advisor YouTube tips.

Swearing is a big no-no for advisors to do in front of clients, but if done correctly (and that’s a big “if”), swearing can set you apart from other brands that may not have the courage to be so raw. Just as the famous financial disclaimer goes: higher risk, higher potential reward.
